About Altinkum
Altinkum is a sheltered bay about 4 km south of Didim town, named after its fine golden sand. The clear sea that stays shallow for a long way out, the restaurants and cafes lining the seafront road behind the beach, the First, Second and Third Bay beaches on either side and a seafront that comes alive in the evening are its main features. Compared with the Temple of Apollo in Didim town, this is entirely a beach and holiday area.
Accommodation consists of family hotels around the bay, apartments and summer complexes spread over the hills, with all services within walking distance. Families with small children, regular summer residents from Britain, guests who want to walk down to the beach and those looking for seafront dining and entertainment in the evening are Altinkum’s typical visitors. Didim town and the Temple of Apollo are 5–10 minutes away, D-Marin marina 10 minutes and Akbuk 30 minutes.
From Milas-Bodrum Airport the route follows the Soke road via Milas and the shore of Lake Bafa to the Didim junction, then through the town to Altinkum, about 95 km / 90 minutes. Most of the road is dual carriageway, with short bends by the lake. Transfers can also be arranged from Izmir Airport. On summer evenings the seafront road is slow because of pedestrians, so the driver pulls up at the nearest hotel entrance. A minibus suits large families. Didim town lies on the way.
