About Calis Beach
Calis is a seaside district north of Fethiye centre, known for its roughly 4 km beach of pebble and sand facing the open side of the gulf. Restaurants, bars and small hotels line the promenade along the beach, and because it faces west the sunset is watched from the shore. Windsurfing and kitesurfing take over on breezy afternoons; the reed beds and canal behind the beach are a protected natural area.
Accommodation is small and medium hotels, apartments and villas close to the beach. The flat ground is easy with a pushchair or for older travellers; Fethiye centre is reached by water taxi or dolmus. It is one of the most popular choices for families wanting a quiet beach holiday and for retired visitors on longer stays.
The road from the airport is entirely flat, about 50 km / 50 minutes, and the coast road brings you in without entering Fethiye centre. The car goes to the hotel or apartment door; at some hotels on the promenade the car pulls up on the street behind. A standard saloon is fine for up to 3 people; families with a lot of luggage should choose a minibus. Fethiye centre is 10 minutes away and Oludeniz 30.
