About Datca
Datca is a small town halfway along the narrow peninsula that stretches 70 km west from Marmaris. At the peninsula's narrowest point the Aegean and the Mediterranean come within a few hundred metres of each other, which is why the wind hardly ever drops and summer heat is milder. Old Datca, just inland from the town, is known for its stone houses and narrow lanes; ancient Knidos lies at the tip of the peninsula.
Accommodation is small hotels, guesthouses, restored stone houses in Old Datca and small places in the coves of Palamutbuku, Hayitbuku and Mesudiye; there is no large hotel. Almonds, olives and seafood are the basis of the local food. It attracts couples looking for quiet, walkers and nature lovers, and those who want to cross to Bodrum by ferry from Kormen harbour; it is not a place for nightlife.
The journey is about 165 km / 170 minutes, one of the longest routes from Dalaman. The road is dual carriageway as far as Marmaris, then a winding mountain road along the peninsula with ups and downs and sea on both sides. In town the vehicle goes to your door; the stone lanes of Old Datca are pedestrianised, so houses there mean a short walk from the nearest point. Roads down to the coves are narrow and partly steep; a minibus is recommended for large groups, a mid-size vehicle for places in the coves.
Airport meet & greet
After passport control and baggage claim, exit the international arrivals hall. Your driver waits right opposite the exit holding a sign with your name. We track your flight — if it is delayed, waiting is free.
