About Gazipasa
Gazipasa is one of the easternmost districts of Antalya; the town centre lies 3 km inland on a plain covered with banana groves and greenhouses. On the coast are Koru beach and, right beside it, the ancient city of Selinus, known as the place where the Roman emperor Trajan died, whose ruins look over the beach at the mouth of the Hacimusa stream. To the east, Kaledran, the ancient city of Iotape and the natural pool called Delik Deniz are the main stops along this coast of rocky coves. The Friday market in town is notable for its banana and avocado stalls; tourism is far lighter than in Alanya.
Accommodation is small hotels, guesthouses and a few boutique places on the shore; there are no large resorts. It suits couples who want an unhurried coast away from the crowds, walkers and visitors of ancient sites, and anyone looking for quiet while still being 45 minutes from Alanya. Alanya Castle and Cleopatra Beach make a half-day trip; Anamur Castle and ancient Anemurium to the east are full-day excursions.
Gazipasa-Alanya airport lies immediately west of the town centre; the road is about 5 km / 10 minutes, flat and straight. For those arriving at Antalya airport, the D-400 coast road via Alanya is 175 km / around 3 hours, so a flight into Gazipasa should be preferred whenever available. Hotels and guesthouses are reached door to door; as the roads down to coastal spots such as Koru beach and Kaledran are narrow, a minibus-class vehicle is recommended for larger groups. Kargicak is 20 km away, Mahmutlar 25 km and Alanya 45 km.
