About Gumuldur
Gumuldur is a seaside town in Menderes district stretching along the northern end of the Gulf of Kusadasi. The long, shallow beach that bears its name, the tangerine and olive orchards behind it, the fish restaurants along the shore and Cam (Goat) Island offshore are its defining features. The ruins of ancient Kolophon and Notion and the Oracle of Apollo at Klaros lie a few kilometres inland and to the south. In autumn the tangerine harvest brings a different kind of bustle to the town.
Accommodation consists of mid-sized hotels along the beach, apartments and the summer complexes of Izmir residents; prices are lower than in Cesme or Kusadasi. Families with children looking for a shallow sea, long-stay summer residents, guests on a budget and anyone wanting a calm beach close to the airport choose Gumuldur. Ozdere is 15 minutes away, Seferihisar 25 minutes and Selcuk and Ephesus 40 minutes.
From the airport the route heads south through Menderes town and joins the coast road at Degirmendere, about 40 km / 45 minutes. The road is two-lane with some bends; on summer weekends the beach avenue slows down. Hotels and complexes are reached door to door; in large complexes sharing the block number makes things easier. A minibus is recommended for larger families and long-stay luggage. Ahmetbeyli and Ozdere lie further along the same coast road.
