About Palamutbuku
Palamutbuku is a coastal village on the southern shore of the Datca peninsula, close to the ancient city of Knidos. Its pebble beach of about two kilometres, clear deep water and bare hills rising behind make it the best-known swimming spot on the peninsula. Simple restaurants along the beach serve produce from the almond groves and the fishing boats. Knidos at the tip of the peninsula, the stone houses of Yazikoy and the bays of Ovabuku and Hayitbuku to the west are visited on day trips. The Datca wind is felt here too, but as the bay faces south the sea is generally calm.
Accommodation is in small guesthouses, apartments and boutique hotels near the beach; there are no large establishments and the village goes quiet outside summer. Couples looking for a natural, simple holiday, families staying for longer periods and people who want to explore the villages of Datca are the typical guests. Datca town is 25 minutes away; its Saturday market and the stone streets of Old Datca are nearby trips. Seasonal boat services run from Knidos to Bodrum and diving trips are available. There is no nightlife in the evenings beyond the restaurants.
From Dalaman Airport the route to Palamutbuku is motorway as far as Marmaris, then a winding, windswept mountain-and-coast road along the Datca peninsula between two gulfs; about 191 km / 175 minutes, one of the longest transfers in the region. The road narrows after Datca, and the descent from Yazikoy to the beach has sharp bends. Guesthouses and villas are reached door to door; the shore road is narrow, so the driver will carry luggage if needed. A rest stop is planned because of the length of the journey, and a minibus-class vehicle is recommended for large groups. Datca is 25 minutes and Marmaris 100 minutes away.
