About Selimiye
Selimiye is an old fishing village at the head of an enclosed bay on the Bozburun peninsula, south-west of Marmaris. It sits between hills covered in pine and olive, and its sheltered bay makes it a favourite anchorage for yachts and gulets. Fish restaurants built on wooden piers along the shore, the ruins of ancient Hydas above the village, Sarnic Bay and the Kizkumu sand spit towards Orhaniye, reached by boat, are the best-known spots. There are no tall buildings, and the coastline lies within a special environmental protection area.
Accommodation is in small boutique hotels, guesthouses and stone villas with gardens; there are no large resorts. Couples looking for silence, families staying for longer periods, sailing and gulet groups, and people who enjoy kayaking, diving and walking come to Selimiye. Bozburun, Orhaniye and the Turgut waterfall can be visited on day trips from the village, and the Datca peninsula is reached by boat. In the evening there is no nightlife beyond the seafront road and the restaurants by the pier.
From Dalaman Airport the route to Selimiye follows the dual carriageway as far as Marmaris, then a winding mountain road with climbs and descents out onto the Bozburun peninsula; it takes about 145 km / 135 minutes. The peninsula road is narrow, so traffic can build up at the Marmaris exit on summer evenings. Hotels and villas are reached door to door; some lanes near the pier are too tight for large vehicles, in which case the driver carries luggage to the nearest point. A minibus-class vehicle is recommended for large families and boat groups. Marmaris is 45 minutes and Orhaniye 20 minutes away along the route.
Hotel pickup
Your driver waits at the hotel, villa or marina entrance at the booked time with a sign showing your name. For villas without a reception he comes to the door; please be ready 10 minutes before pickup. For international flights we suggest pickup about 4 h 50 min before departure, so you are at the airport 2 hours early.
