About Belek
Belek is a resort town on a flat stretch of coast in the Serik district, east of Antalya. Large resort hotels and golf courses sit between a strip of stone-pine forest running parallel to the shore and a fine sandy beach several kilometres long; most of Turkey's golf courses are found here. Nearby, the Roman theatre of Aspendos, Kursunlu Waterfall and the Land of Legends theme park are the most visited day-trip destinations. Part of the beach is protected as a nesting ground for loggerhead turtles.
Accommodation is mainly all-inclusive five-star resorts and golf hotels; the town centre also has smaller hotels and apartments. Typical visitors are golf groups, families looking for large children's areas and aquaparks, and congress delegates. The centre has a bazaar, restaurants and supermarkets; Antalya Old Town and the ancient city of Side are each within an hour by car, and the Koprulu Canyon rafting routes lie to the north-east.
The road from Antalya Airport to Belek runs straight and fast along the D400 highway, about 30 km / 35 minutes; the Aksu junction can be busy in the morning and evening. Hotels are reached door to door, with a short wait possible at resort security gates. For passengers travelling with golf bags, a minivan or minibus-class vehicle with a large luggage space is recommended. Kadriye and Bogazkent lie along the way, with Side a little further on.
