About Icmeler
Icmeler lies 8 km west of Marmaris at the far end of the same bay and is a smaller, quieter resort. It is enclosed on three sides by pine-covered mountains; the small stream running through the middle of town, the promenade that follows it down to the sea and the hotels lined along the beach define how the place looks. The sea is clearer and shallower than in central Marmaris.
Accommodation is mostly medium and large hotels and apartments, with pool villas on the slopes. Days are spent on the beach, evenings in the seafront restaurants and the small bazaar; Marmaris is an easy trip by dolmus or water taxi. Boat trips go to Turunc, Kumlubuk and the surrounding coves. It suits families and couples looking for a calm holiday; those who want nightlife tend to choose Marmaris.
The journey is about 98 km / 95 minutes; the route is the same as for Marmaris, then a flat road along the coast. Your vehicle takes you to the door of your hotel or villa; roads up to the hillside villas are steep but paved. A minibus is comfortable for families and groups with a lot of luggage. Turunc is 10 km further on, beyond the mountain road; you can ask for a stop at the Marmaris bazaar on the way back.
