About Orhaniye

Orhaniye is a village in a sheltered bay at the inner end of the Gulf of Hisaronu, west of Marmaris. Its landmark is Kizkumu, a natural sand spit running hundreds of metres into the sea under knee-deep water, so that from a distance people seem to be walking on the water. The bay has a yacht marina and boatyard, and restaurants with wooden piers along the shore. Nearby are the Turgut waterfall, the centuries-old plane tree of Bayir village and the remains of ancient Bybassos on the hill. The sea is shallow and calm.

Accommodation is mostly boutique hotels overlooking the bay, villas with gardens and guesthouses in the village; there are no large hotels. Families with small children choose Orhaniye for the shallow water, couples for the quiet and sailors for the marina. Selimiye, Bozburun and Hisaronu are a short drive away, and the bazaar and nightlife of Marmaris are 40 minutes off. Canoeing, stand-up paddling and boat trips within the bay are the main activities.

Transfer note

From Dalaman Airport the route to Orhaniye is motorway as far as Marmaris, then the winding road down to the peninsula from the Hisaronu turn-off; about 127 km / 120 minutes. As it is the first stretch of the Bozburun peninsula road, it is shorter than the journey to Selimiye or Bozburun. Hotels and villas are reached door to door; for marina guests the driver pulls up at the pier gate. A minibus-class vehicle is recommended for families with plenty of luggage and boat groups. Marmaris is 40 minutes and Selimiye 20 minutes away along the route.
