About Dalyan
Dalyan is a small town built on both banks of the river that links Lake Köyceğiz to the sea. The Lycian rock tombs on the opposite bank are best seen in evening light from the riverside restaurants; boats leave from here for ancient Kaunos, the mud baths and Iztuzu beach. Iztuzu is a loggerhead turtle nesting site, so it closes at night and has no buildings on it.
Accommodation is mostly small hotels, guesthouses and villas with gardens; there are no large resorts. The town is walkable, and in the evening the area around Cumhuriyet Square and the riverfront comes alive. Day boat trips, kayaking and the Sultaniye hot springs on Lake Köyceğiz are the things most visitors do.
The road from the airport is flat and easy, about 27 km / 30 minutes. Streets in town are narrow; your driver takes you to your villa or hotel door, and on the few streets a car cannot enter you walk the last 50–100 metres. Göcek and Sarıgerme are close enough to ask for a stop on the way back.
