About Sarigerme
Sarıgerme is the name of a long beach hidden behind pine forest, west of the point where the Dalaman river meets the sea. The sand runs unbroken for several kilometres and the water is shallow and sandy underfoot; pine forest begins right behind the shore, which is why most of the beach is undeveloped. On the hill near the village stand the remains of the ancient city of Pisilis. A steady afternoon breeze makes Sarıgerme a known spot for windsurfing.
Accommodation falls into two groups: large all-inclusive resorts on the seafront, one with a golf course, and small hotels, guesthouses and apartments in the village about a kilometre inland. From the village you walk to the beach through the pines or use the hotel shuttles. Families with small children come for the shallow sea; golfers and those wanting a quiet two-week holiday come for the big resorts. Dalyan and Iztuzu are easy day trips.
From the airport it is a flat main road towards Ortaca, then a short road down to the village; about 18 km / 25 minutes. The large hotels and the village guesthouses are all reached door to door; the village streets are narrow but passable. Larger families heading to the big resorts travel more comfortably in a minibus-class vehicle. Dalyan is 15 minutes away, Dalaman town 15 minutes and Göcek 35 minutes.
