About Ortaca
Ortaca is the district town to which Dalyan and Sarıgerme belong; it sits on the Fethiye–Muğla main road on a flat plain of citrus groves and greenhouses. It is a local trading town rather than a resort: the bus station, state hospital, banks, large supermarkets, an industrial zone and the weekly market are all here. The surrounding villages and holiday places do much of their shopping in Ortaca, so the town is busy all year round.
Accommodation is in town hotels and rented flats; there are no holiday resorts. Those who choose Ortaca are mostly long-stay visitors renting a flat, people working in the area, or travellers who find Dalyan prices too high. From here local minibuses run easily to the river and beach at Dalyan, to Sarıgerme beach and to Lake Köyceğiz. In the evening the cafes and the square in the town centre are where local people meet.
The road from the airport to Ortaca is a wide, flat dual carriageway; about 17 km / 20 minutes. Streets in town are wide, every address is reached door to door and any vehicle type is suitable. If you are continuing by coach, your driver drops you directly at the bus station; coaches to Fethiye, Marmaris and Muğla leave from here. Dalyan is 10 minutes away, Sarıgerme 15 minutes and Köyceğiz 20 minutes.
