About Didim

Didim is a district at the southern tip of Aydin, on the peninsula between the Buyuk Menderes Delta and the Gulf of Gulluk. The giant-columned Temple of Apollo at ancient Didyma, Altinkum Beach known for its shallow, calm sea, the D-Marin Didim marina, the nearby ancient city of Miletus and the pine-covered bays of Akbuk to the east are its best-known places. The district centre sits around the temple, while the coastal settlements spread along the southern and eastern shores; the large Saturday market is busy.

Accommodation includes hotels and apartments around Altinkum, villas and flats in summer complexes, quiet holiday estates in Akbuk and Mavisehir and boutique hotels near the marina. Families with children, long-stay summer residents, British and Turkish retirees, visitors interested in ancient sites and yacht owners are typical guests. Altinkum is 5 minutes away, Akbuk 25 minutes, Miletus 30 minutes and Soke 45 minutes.

Transfer note

From Milas-Bodrum Airport the route heads north via Milas along the Soke road beside Lake Bafa, turning off at the Didim junction, about 90 km / 85 minutes; there are short winding sections by the lake. From Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport it is about 130 km via the motorway and Soke, and transfers run from both airports. Hotels and complexes are reached door to door. A minibus is recommended for larger families. Lake Bafa, the Akbuk turn-off and Miletus lie on the way.
