About Saklikent

Saklıkent lies east of Fethiye, within Seydikemer district, and is known for Saklıkent Gorge, one of the longest canyons in Turkey. The gorge is about 18 km long and its walls rise close to 300 metres in places; after a wooden walkway at the entrance, visitors continue on foot through cold, knee-deep water. Inside the gorge it is noticeably cooler than outside, which is why it is busiest around midday in July and August.

Accommodation is limited to village guesthouses and wooden bungalows beside the stream; most visitors come for the day from Fethiye, Oludeniz or Kalkan. Walking the gorge, rafting on the Eşen river, ATV tours and the nearby ancient city of Tlos are the main activities. It suits nature-loving families and walkers; with small children you only do the first section of the gorge.

Transfer note

From the airport the road is a wide, flat main road as far as Fethiye, then an open and easy route through Kemer and along the Eşen valley; about 82 km / 80 minutes in total. There is a car park at the gorge entrance, and your driver takes you to the entrance or to your bungalow. There are no narrow or steep sections, so any vehicle type is suitable. As it is on the way to Patara and Kalkan, it makes a convenient stop for passengers heading that way.
