About Sigacik
Sigacik is an old castle village 5 km west of Seferihisar town, on the shore of a sheltered bay. Inside the walls of the 16th-century Sigacik Castle are stone houses, flower-lined lanes and small restaurants; the marina and fishing harbour in front of the castle form the village centre. The producers’ market held around the castle every Sunday is known for regional produce, olive oil and handicrafts. Ancient Teos and Akkum Beach lie a few kilometres to the south.
Accommodation is in stone-house guesthouses inside the castle, boutique hotels near the marina and villas in the complexes around the village. Couples wanting to explore a quiet village on foot, sailors mooring at the marina, people coming for Sunday breakfast and shopping, and families heading to nearby beaches are typical visitors. It is smaller and more sea-facing than Seferihisar town, which is 10 minutes away; Urla is 35 minutes.
From the airport the two-lane provincial road via Menderes and Seferihisar takes about 45 km / 50 minutes; the road has gentle bends and no motorway. On Sundays the market makes the village entrance and the castle area very busy, so add 15 minutes to the arrival time. Vehicles cannot enter the castle, so the driver stops at the castle gate or the marina car park and the last few metres are on foot. A minibus is recommended for groups continuing by boat with luggage. Seferihisar town lies on the same road.
