About Turgutreis
Turgutreis lies at the western tip of the Bodrum peninsula, facing the Greek island of Kos, and is the largest settlement on the peninsula after Bodrum itself. It is named after the Ottoman admiral Turgut Reis, recalled by the memorial on the seafront and the statue in the town centre. In front of the town is a long sandy beach, to the south the D-Marin marina and seafront amphitheatre, and offshore the islands of Catal Ada and Kargi. Its west-facing position gives it the best-known sunset on the peninsula. The Saturday market is one of the largest around Bodrum, and the open-sea breeze cools the evenings.
Accommodation ranges from mid-range hotels and apartments to large all-inclusive resorts and villas in seafront estates; as the town lives all year, its supermarkets, hospital and bazaar infrastructure are complete. Families staying for longer, yacht and marina guests, people crossing to Kos for the day and anyone avoiding Bodrum prices choose Turgutreis. Akyarlar and Gumusluk are 10–15 minutes away to the south and north, and dolmus services to Bodrum centre run frequently. The marina hosts seasonal concerts and market events.
From Milas-Bodrum Airport, Turgutreis is reached via the Bodrum ring road and the main Turgutreis road that crosses the whole peninsula, about 58 km / 60 minutes; the road is dual carriageway and comfortable, with possible congestion at the Ortakent junction on summer evenings. Hotels and villas are reached door to door; for marina guests the driver pulls up at the D-Marin gate and marina trolleys carry the luggage. A minibus-class vehicle is recommended for families with lots of luggage and yacht groups. Akyarlar is 10 minutes away and Gumusluk 15 minutes.
Hotel pickup
Your driver waits at the hotel, villa or marina entrance at the booked time with a sign showing your name. For villas without a reception he comes to the door; please be ready 10 minutes before pickup. For international flights we suggest pickup about 5 h 40 min before departure, so you are at the airport 2 hours early.
