About Lara
Lara is a seaside district of Muratpasa, 12 km east of Antalya city centre. The city's cliff coast ends here, and from the point where Duden Waterfall falls into the sea the fine-sand Lara Beach stretches east for kilometres. The part of the beach nearest the city is a public beach lined with cafes; further east stand large resort hotels built in themed styles such as the Kremlin, Topkapi and Venice. Within the district are the shops and restaurants of Lara Caddesi, Duden Park and the Sandland sand sculpture exhibition.
Accommodation is mainly large all-inclusive resorts, with apartments and city hotels in the inland parts of the district. Lara suits families who want to be very close to the airport, groups looking for a sandy beach and in-resort entertainment, and anyone wanting easy access to central Antalya. The Old Town is 20 minutes away, Perge and Aspendos 30–45 minutes, Kundu 5 minutes.
Lara is the closest holiday area to the airport; it is reached via Havaalani Caddesi and the Lara coast road in about 8 km / 15 minutes on entirely flat city roads. As the resorts line the coast road, your driver takes you to the hotel entrance; hotel gates are spread out, so giving the exact name of the hotel matters. A saloon is enough for small groups, while a minivan or minibus is recommended for larger families. Kundu and Aksu continue to the east, and Antalya centre lies to the west.
