About Turkbuku
Turkbuku, officially Golturkbuku, lies on the north coast of the Bodrum peninsula and was formed by merging the two old villages of Turkbuku and Golkoy. The Turkbuku side, with its wooden piers reaching over the sea, sunbeds on the piers and beach clubs, is the bay where Turkey's summer society has met for many years; the Golkoy side is calmer, shallower and family-oriented. As the bay has little natural beach, the sea is enjoyed from the piers. Restaurants, boutiques and nightspots line the shore, and the seafront promenade connects the two villages. The hills behind the bay and the village of Kizilagac beyond are suited to morning walks.
Accommodation on the Turkbuku side is upper-segment boutique hotels with piers and beach-club hotels, and on the Golkoy side family hotels, apartments and villas on the hills; there are no all-inclusive resorts. Couples and groups who want to see and be seen, guests focused on dining and beach clubs, and, in Golkoy, families looking for quiet are the typical visitors. It is more expensive than Bodrum town but has a more intimate bay feel than Yalikavak. Torba is 10 minutes away, Gundogan 10 minutes and Bodrum centre 25 minutes.
From Milas-Bodrum Airport, Turkbuku is reached along the northern peninsula road via Torba, about 38 km / 40 minutes; it is one of the nearby bays reached without entering Bodrum town. The road is dual carriageway and comfortable, though traffic slows on the single-lane section of the Turkbuku shore road on summer evenings. Hotels are reached door to door; at pier hotels on the shore road the vehicle stops at the roadside and hotel staff carry the luggage. Hillside villas have steep roads. A minibus or VIP-class vehicle is recommended for groups with lots of luggage. Torba is 10 minutes away and Gundogan 10 minutes.
Hotel pickup
Your driver waits at the hotel, villa or marina entrance at the booked time with a sign showing your name. For villas without a reception he comes to the door; please be ready 10 minutes before pickup. For international flights we suggest pickup about 5 h 20 min before departure, so you are at the airport 2 hours early.
