About Gocek
Göcek is a small marina town at the north-western end of the Gulf of Fethiye, surrounded by pine forest. Several marinas, yacht clubs and boatyards lined up along the shore give the town its character; because it lies inside the Fethiye–Göcek Special Environmental Protection Area, there are no tall buildings and the coastline is protected. The bays in front of the town and the group of islands known as the Twelve Islands are the most sheltered anchorages in the region.
Accommodation is in boutique hotels, villas with gardens and on boats; there are no large resorts. The town has no big beach, so visitors take day boats out to the Yassıca Islands, Bedri Rahmi Bay or Cleopatra Bath Bay. Typical visitors are groups chartering a gulet, people arriving on their own yacht, couples wanting a quiet town and families who spend time in the waterfront cafes. In the evening the seafront promenade and the shops in the back streets come alive.
The road from the airport is flat and short, passing through the Göcek Tunnel, about 24 km / 25 minutes. Hotels and villas are reached door to door; as vehicle access inside the marinas can be restricted, your driver pulls up at the marina gate or the pier you name, and marina trolleys carry luggage to the boat. Boat groups usually travel with more luggage, so a minibus-class vehicle is recommended. Fethiye is 25 minutes away and Dalyan 35 minutes.
