About Kumkoy
Kumkoy is a resort village immediately west of the Side peninsula, 3 km from the ancient city, and the liveliest part of the Side area. The long beach, a continuation of Side's West Beach, runs uninterrupted in front of the resorts; along the street parallel to the shore, bars, restaurants, tattoo and souvenir shops stay open late. Side's Temple of Apollo and ancient theatre can be reached on foot along the shore or by a few minutes on the dolmus. Kumkoy has no historic site of its own; its identity is the beach and the evening scene.
Accommodation ranges from large all-inclusive resorts to mid-sized hotels and apartments; it is where the Side area has the widest choice of hotels. It suits younger guests after nightlife, couples who want to walk into Side in the evening and families looking for activity along the seafront street. It is busier and noisier than Colakli and Evrenseki; those seeking quiet prefer the Sorgun side. Manavgat Waterfall is 20 minutes away.
From Antalya Airport to Kumkoy takes about 69 km / 70 minutes along the D400; the road from the Side junction down to the shore can slow on summer evenings. Hotels are reached door to door; at the small hotels on the seafront street the vehicle can pull up at the door, though parking space is tight. Saloon and minivan vehicles are sufficient, with a minibus recommended for groups. Belek, Colakli and Evrenseki lie along the way; ancient Side is right next door.
