About Sorgun
Sorgun is a resort area east of the Side peninsula, stretching between Side's East Beach and Titreyengol and named after the pine forest that runs down to the shore. The hotels are set inside the forest on large plots separated from each other by trees, giving a more spread-out, shaded layout than the closely packed hotels on the Kumkoy side. The beach is long and fine-sanded, and walking and cycling paths run through the forest behind it. Sorgun's own bazaar is small; Side's ancient theatre and Temple of Apollo lie 4 to 5 km to the west.
Accommodation is mainly large all-inclusive resorts and a few luxury hotels; apartments and guesthouses are rare. It suits families who want the cool of the forest and spacious hotel grounds, couples seeking quiet and anyone planning to spend time in the hotel spa. Side is 10 minutes by dolmus, central Manavgat and its waterfall 15 to 20 minutes. For an evening stroll, people prefer the harbour lanes of Side; Sorgun has no nightlife.
From Antalya Airport to Sorgun takes about 80 km / 80 minutes along the D400; after the Side junction the route continues towards Manavgat before turning onto the shore road through the forest. Hotels are reached door to door; the forest roads are narrow but suitable for minibuses. A minivan or minibus-class vehicle is recommended for families and groups. Colakli, Kumkoy and Side lie along the way, with Titreyengol and Kizilagac immediately to the east.
