About Kargicak
Kargicak is a neighbourhood 17 km east of Alanya centre, between Mahmutlar and the Gazipasa border. Behind a few hotels on the shore, the settlement climbs up slopes covered with banana groves and greenhouses, and most houses stand on these slopes facing the sea. The beach is a mix of sand and shingle and is quieter than Mahmutlar. At the western end of the village the road up to the ancient city of Syedra begins; the Dim River valley and its riverside restaurants are 20 minutes away. Kargicak has no centre of its own; for supermarkets and the market people use Mahmutlar.
Accommodation is villas with pools and duplex flats on the slopes, plus a few medium-sized hotels on the shore. It suits families wanting a villa with a view, couples who want a quiet week with their own pool and long-stay expats; nightlife and a bazaar are not to be expected. Alanya Castle and Cleopatra Beach can be seen in half a day, and the coves of Gazipasa and ancient Selinus within an hour.
From Gazipasa-Alanya airport the coast road is about 28 km / 35 minutes, making it one of the closest places in the Alanya area to Gazipasa; from Antalya airport it is 141 km / around 2 hours 25 minutes on the D-400 through Alanya centre. The Gazipasa road follows the shore and is flat; as the lanes up to the hillside villas can be steep and winding, a high-clearance vehicle and the exact villa address are recommended for groups with heavy luggage. You are taken door to door. Mahmutlar is 5 km away and Gazipasa centre 20 km.
