About Konakli
Konakli is 12 km west of Alanya centre and is the largest of the resort towns on Alanya's western side, as well as the closest to the centre. Hotels line the long sand-and-shingle beach; the town centre north of the D-400 has a bazaar, restaurants, bars and a Saturday market. The Sari Kaya headland at the western end of the shore and the small ruin of Konakli Castle make a walking route. As the minibus to Alanya takes 20 minutes, the town offers a calm seafront together with the facilities of the city.
Accommodation is all-inclusive resorts, medium-sized hotels and apartments in the centre; villas are rare. It suits families holidaying in hotels, couples who want to go out in the evenings and guests looking for somewhere close to Alanya but quieter. Alanya Castle, Cleopatra Beach, the Dim River and Damlatas Cave can be done in half a day; Sapadere Canyon and Alarahan are full-day trips.
From Gazipasa-Alanya airport the coast road through Alanya centre is about 57 km / 60 minutes; from Antalya airport it is 113 km / around 110 minutes on the D-400, and most charter passengers arrive via Antalya. The road is flat and wide; on summer evenings the passage through Alanya and Manavgat may slow down. Hotels are reached door to door; as apartments in the centre may be on narrow streets, your driver pulls up at the nearest suitable point. Turkler is 6 km away and Alanya 12 km.
